A wedding dance with the love of my life, surrounded by friends and family at our alma mater, Westminster College. Fun fact: we chose our first dance song as we walked onto the dance carpet.
I am interested in fully exploiting the potential of modern astronomical surveys to reveal previously unknown, previously unobserved events. Identifying new, anomalous, and outlying observations poses a significant challenge given the scale of future survey data; the task of anomaly detection must be automated by sophisticated machine learning algorithms to provide real-time characterization and prioritization. In my research, I apply unsupervised machine learning in a concerted search for astronomical anomalies, so that the remarkable capabilities of modern surveys can be fully realized.
