- Born September 17, 1990
- Grew up in Issaquah, Washington, raised by my mom Rhinee with my older sister Liz
- I did competetive gymnastics in middle school, but decided to focus on school and only coached in high school
- Played the french horn in the Evergreen Philharmonic from 2005 to 2009, won a few regional competitions and went to state competitions
- My middle/high school jobs included being a camp counselor, a dishwasher, a party store employee, and a gymnastics instructor
- Graduated from Issaquah High School in 2009
- Attended Westminster College in Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2012 and received my BS in Physics
- I joined Theta Chi fraternity, dove on the swim and dive team, was a member of Lambda Sigma, played in the orchestra, and graduated in 3 years
- I met my now-wife, Addie Domske, in Astronomy during our senior year (later proposed in the same planetarium we met in)
- Worked at the Boeing Company as a mechanical engineer with the Post Production Modification group
- We worked on projects like cutting holes into the sides of planes for various reasons
- From 2014 to 2020 attended Illinois Institute of Technology and received my PhD in Physics
- My research was done at the Adler Planetarium, ultimately working with Dr. Lucianne Walkowicz
- In 2016 I got married to Addie! Later that week we got to see the Harry Potter play opening week! (trans lives matter)
- Currently I am a Postdoc at SETI, working with Dr. Ann Marie Cody
Fun Facts
- My first word was jeopardy, because that was one of the two shows my parents watched (the other was Star Trek)
- My childhood home was on Squak Mountain, one of the three mountains in Issaquah (the others being Tiger and Cougar)
Q: You know why they call it Squak mountain?
A: Well you'd squawk too if you were between a tiger and a cougar!
- On the enneagram I'm a 5 with a 6 wing, Meyers-Briggs I'm an INTP
- I'm a lifelong activist always working to be better at my allyship, I'm open to feedback and acting as an advocate, I'm down to protest, stand up, and step back as the situation calls for
